A Clown for All Occassions

Sunflower the Clown came to exist in May 2001. She was given as a gift by way of a dream in May 2001 but had her first corporate debut in December 2001. Since then, Sunflower has been in a whirlwind of fun, faces, and new things to learn, see and do! 


Sunflower has been a member of the Toronto Clown Alley, she attended Clown Fun 2002 conference in Calgary, Alberta, and won a gold medal for the personal make up category of Auguste Clowns. And has attended and been a presenter/trainer at conferences since then. Sunflower the Clown won a prestigious 2nd place award in the Professional Facepainting division at the International FABAIC 2010 Face and Body Art Convention in Orlando Florida.


Sunflower has been working over these past years in both the corporate and private sector. She has performed and painted at large scale events for corporations such as Hewlett Packard, Apple Canada, Smurfit-Web Offset, Gemini Stars Competitive Team, TSH Consulting Engineers, GE Mississauga, Durhamways Bus Lines, The Granite Club, Great Blue Heron, ASC, Heinz Canada, Liza Communities, and Toronto Police CAA Safety Camps to name a few. 


She has been hosted at numerous Christian ministry events and outreaches (St. Paul's On Bloor, The Embassy, Toronto International Celebration Church, Word of Faith Church, Whitby Christian Assembly, Saint Francis De Sales Church, Port Perry United, St. Paul's on the Hill, Whitby Free Methodist, Hillsdale Wesleyan, Church of the Nazarene, Grenbank/Seagrave United, Emmanuel Pentecostal, Chinese Evangelical Alliance Church,...and more). 


Sunflower has entertained at many birthday parties all over Durham and the Greater Toronto Region, and has been found at larger scale community events such as Whitby Town Carnival, Brooklin Harvest Festival, Whitby Heritage Days, Oshawa Seniors Event at Memorial Park in downtown Oshawa, Canada Day at Lakeview Park in Oshawa, Family New Years in Whitby, Durham International Festival, Brits on the Lake - Port Perry, Autofest Oshawa, and often for new communities such as Liza Communities park openings. Sunflower is also regularly found at daycare centers, and playschools in Durham Region and beyond. 


Sunflower is also a teacher/trainer and has trained up many facepainters/balloon twisters in the Durham Region over the past 14 years. Sunflower has won international recognition for her facepainting. Enjoying working with youth, Sunflower has taught facepainting workshops in local schools to build skills and self esteem in grades 7 and 8, and has taught many adults and youth, some who have eventually joined her team and travelled to paint in events all over GTA and beyond.
